There are two cool things about the bread. 1) It is leavened with wild yeasts I have strengthened with regular feedings for the past two weeks. 2) There are several long fermenting periods when I can read. So far, the dough has not taken any form Nancy Silverton prescribes in her book "Breads from La Brea Bakery," which means my work could be a huge flop. But on the up side, reading is going well.
It has always taken me a long time to think of something to say, and then more often then not I say it to myself. ~Wendell Berry Jayber Crow
Kirby has lent me his copy of Jayber Crow, a book that had been on my reading list for at least a year. Everyone who suggests it says I would like it, and they were right.
Is it a little arrogant to feel like I and Jonah Crow have a lot in common? In his narration he describes himself the way I might describe myself. Like the above quote, I say alot of things to myself, or to dogs and cats, or the trees, or God. Sometimes I try to say things to other people, since I like talking to people. But, the words never come out right, or they are never received how I intended.

As someone who often apologizes to doorways, I can totally relate to sharing thoughts with dogs, cats and inanimate objects.
